Sustainable Living in Winnall Winchester
KBL was proud to collaborate with Wates on an exciting project in Winnall Winchester. Wates had been awarded the contract to build two residential blocks designed to Passivhaus standards—prioritising low energy usage and sustainable living. The project also included a complete reimagining of the surrounding landscape.
KBL was responsible for all soft landscaping works and for transforming the former access road into a new open space park. This included removing and excavating the existing road, installing new street lighting, creating parking bays, regrading the site with imported topsoil, and constructing new pathways—alongside the full scope of soft landscaping.
The goal was to create a sustainable, eco-friendly environment that would enhance both the visual appeal and functionality of the space. The new housing blocks were built to high energy efficiency standards, aiming to reduce carbon emissions while providing a comfortable, modern living experience for residents.
The landscaping scheme introduced a diverse range of plants and trees, turning the area into a welcoming green space for the local community. New street lighting and improved access points added to the safety and usability of the site, while the new pathways created convenient, pedestrian-friendly routes.
The collaboration between KBL and Wates resulted in a successful transformation of the site—highlighting innovative design, sustainable practices, and a shared commitment to creating better, greener spaces.
